Tasty Treats for Hockey Night in Canada

Hockey nights are here. Are you ready Canada?

Hosting a Hockey Night in Canada gathering at home can be a fantastic way to enjoy the game with friends and family in a cozy and comfortable setting. Here are some tasty and easy recipes that you can try for the perfect Canadian evening.

Maple Glazed Chicken Wing Goodness

Ingredients: Chicken wings, Maple syrup, Soy sauce, Garlic powder, Salt and pepper

Instructions:

  • Mix maple syrup, soy sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.

  • Marinate the chicken wings in the mixture for at least 30 minutes.

  • Bake or grill the wings until they are crispy and golden brown.

  • Goes perfectly with a Belgian White Blue Moon and a slice of orange peel.

Poutine Party Platter

Ingredients: Frozen French fries, Cheese curds, Gravy

Instructions:

  • Cook the French fries according to the package instructions.

  • While the fries are cooking, heat the gravy.

  • Once the fries are done, assemble them on a plate, top with cheese curds, and pour the hot gravy over the top.

  • Pairs excellent with the Brasseur de Montréal Normanville.

Canadian Caesar Sips

Ingredients: 12 oz bottle beer, 1 cup spicy Clamato juice, 1 lime wedge, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and black pepper to taste, Caesar Rimmer spice mix

Instructions:

  • Grab a plate and sprinkle a few tablespoons of that Caesar Rimmer spice mix on it.

  • Take two glasses and run a lime wedge around the rims. Dip the rims into the spice mix - give it a good coat!

  • Get yourself a nice cold glass and pour in some beer, which we highly recommend Coors Original, and Clamato juice. No need to be fancy; just eyeball it!

  • Splash in some Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and a pinch of black pepper.

  • Give it a good stir.

  • Top it off with some ice cubes.

  • Finish it off with a lime wedge or, if you're feeling adventurous, stick in a pickled green bean.

Nanaimo Bar Bliss

Ingredients: Graham cracker crumbs, Shredded coconut, Butter, Powdered sugar, Vanilla custard powder, Semi-sweet chocolate, Butter

Instructions:

  • Mix graham cracker crumbs, shredded coconut, melted butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla custard powder. Press into a pan.

  • Melt chocolate and butter together, then spread over the crumb mixture.

  • Refrigerate until set, then cut into bars.

  • Add in any variety of Topo Chico Hard Seltzer to make the tastes really pop out!

BeaverTails Bash

Ingredients: Pizza dough, Oil for frying
Toppings: cinnamon sugar, chocolate, maple syrup

Instructions:

  • Roll out pizza dough into an oval shape.

  • Heat oil in a pan or deep fryer.

  • Fry the dough until golden brown.

  • Add toppings like cinnamon sugar, chocolate, or maple syrup.

  • For this one, we highly recommend going the most Canadian route and grabbing a Molson Canadian.

Encourage your friends and family to stay in for the game rather than heading out to a bar. Not only will you save money, but you'll also create a more intimate and relaxed atmosphere. Plus, you can customize the menu to suit everyone's tastes and dietary preferences. You can even make it a potluck-style gathering, where each guest contributes a dish. It's a win-win – great food, great company, and a great game!
