The Big Game is right around the corner as the Kansas City Chiefs look to three-peat as league champions as they square off against the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans on February 9th at 6:30 p.m. ET/9:30 PT.

The Chiefs outlasted the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship 32-29, while the Eagles muscled past the Washington Commanders 55-23 in the NFC title game.

The upcoming Big Game will be a rematch of the one played in the 2022 season, when the Chiefs would capture their first of what would be back-to-back titles.

For the Eagles, they look for their title since 2017.

Whether you’re attending a gathering to watch the game and cheer to your heart’s content, going just for the commercials, or just going for the food, there are some must-haves for every Big Game party.

Food

While the game might be forgettable, the last thing you want is for your food and beverages to be.

Tried and true classic like chicken wings, nachos, and fries will be sure to please your hungry crowd. For larger meals, think lasagna, chicken parm, big bowls of pasta, and other ‘family-style’ meals.

Some snack ideas are as followed:

-Tortilla chips

-Potato chips

-Cocktail sausages

-Hot dogs

-Hamburgers

-Dips

-Meatballs

-Veggie tray

-Assorted desserts like cookies and cake

And don’t forget a Case of the Mondays to complete the perfect Big Game spread!

Atmosphere

Sure, gathering around a TV in a basement gets the job done. But the Big Game only comes around once a year so why not liven up your hosting space a little!

Hang some streamers, get some football-inspired decorations like paper plates and napkins. Encourage people to wear jerseys and other football gear to really celebrate the day!

Games

Football Squares is a classic Big Game activity for any hosting party. With many templates to choose from online, the game is centred around predictions for what will unfold during the game. Will the national anthem singer go over a certain time, will there be a touchdown scored on the first drive, what colour will the Gatorade bath be at the end of the game?

Once all the squares are filled, winners will be announced at the end of each quarter and the big winner will be determined at the end of the game.

Be sure to have some small, fun prizes for all your winners!

If you’re not a fan of the halftime performance, you can always get a board game like trivia, bingo, or UNO going to keep the vibes high. Furthermore, you can keep the action on the field going with a Madden tournament and put your guests’ favourite teams in the Big Game.

All in all, the Big Game is another reason to get together with family and friends, enjoy some good food, good company and good football.

Happy hosting!
